Dendritic agate necklace in sterling silver. Featuring a large flat oval dendritic agate (aka merlinite), 40×17 mm large. A painting made by nature. Set in sterling silver fantasy bezel. With a large decorative bail fit for chains up to 3.5 mm.
Merlinite is a variety of Dendritic Opal, and sometimes has an opalescent sheen. Unlike green Moss agate it is black and white, although its black color ranges from dark grey to bluish-black.
The rare Dendritic agate is coming from the Baikal lake in Siberia. The famous Russian jeweler Carl Faberge, who was commissioned by the Russian Imperial Court from 1885 to 1916, used dendritic agate along with diamond and other precious stones for many of his pieces. Dendritic agate is prized in Russia as a stone of longevity, good health and prosperity.
