Navy blue lapis lazuli necklace in a 999 fine silver bezel. To complete the navy theme a bird shape has been chosen for the bail.
Featuring a 25×18 mm navy blue genuine lapis lazuli cabochon. The stone has been not treated otherwise than tumbled. It has gold flecks of pyrite (‘fool’s gold’) which make the main difference between lapis and similar-looking sodalite.
Lapis lazuli is a rock with 25% to 40% lazurite, the remainder being calcite, sodalite, and pyrite. Lapis from Afghanistan usually has very little calcite. The material from Chili, however, is very distinctive because it usually contains as much as 50% calcite, giving it a mottled blue and white appearance. The lazurite color ranges from a rich electric blue to a dark cobalt blue similar to Afghan material. This particular stone, originating from Central Asia, has a deep navy blue hue.
The Navy blue lapis lazuli necklace has a total pendant size of 45×20 mm (1,7x 0.8 inches).
The Navy blue lapis lazuli necklace can be delivered on a 1.2 mm 50 cm snake sterling silver chain (extra price + 14 euro)

In ancient times Lapis Lazuli was most highly regarded because of its beautiful color and the valuable ultramarine dye derived from it. Its name comes from the Latin lapis, “stone,” and the Persian lazhuward, “blue.” It is a rock formed by multiple minerals, mostly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite, and is a rich medium to royal blue with gold flecks (pyrites). You can see the small pyrite inclusions on this pendant.
